ABOUT REBECCA W.
Rebecca’s previous role with SAIC was to enable collaboration between the aquaculture industry and aquaculture research, supporting business engagement, and liaising with academics, public funding bodies and the aquaculture industry to engage all parties in collaborative research projects. From this she followed a desire to get back to hands on work in the sector, joining Mowi’s environmental department to work directly on these research projects alongside fish farming licensing and site development responsibilities. She previously worked in the Enterprise department of the Scottish Association of Marine Science (SAMS) as a project manager, working with a wide range of both commercial and academic stakeholders in both research and commercial projects. In 2018 Rebecca completed a physics and technology based PhD project developing unmanned aerial vehicles as platforms for marine research. She also has an MRes in Ecosystem-based management of marine systems, and a BSc with Hons in Marine Biology, both from the University of St Andrews. This has helped to consolidate a strong passion for environmental science, in particular in the marine sector.Rebecca has a wide range of experience working in different fields and locations, including the UK, Norway, Indonesia and Australia, as well as with both academic and commercial groups therefore bringing a large variety of global experience with her.
