   I\'ve served as the President/CEO of the Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) located in Fishers, Indiana, since May 2005. HSHC is a not for profit, 501(c)(3) organization with the mission of saving lives, educating communities and completing families.We took in over approximately 4,100 animals in 2021, of which just over were animals at risk for euthanasia in other Indiana shelters. HSHC is currently one of the only open-admission, truly no-kill shelters in the country.\"No-kill\" is defined by the animal welfare industry as giving not only highly adoptable animals a second chance despite space and time restrictions, but also giving seniors, the disabled, those with special medical needs, and even the ones who have sustained serious hit-by-car injuries a second chance if they are treatable with a good outlook for a quality life. No-kill means we don\'t euthanize animals who exhibit various forms of aggression (such as dog aggression or \"stranger danger\" based fear aggression) as long as they are rehabilitatable and/or can be safely placed.
