ABOUT REBECCA STANCLIFFE
Research and Insight Lead with 8+ years delivering ethnographic, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches that centre lived experience and drive strategic change. My practice is person-centred and equity-driven. I am a specialist in participatory practice, peer-led research, narrative enquiry, and digital ethnography. I co-produce with experts by experience, empower peer researchers, and ensure ethical, transparent and GDPR-compliant methods. I work collaboratively to set research agendas, define outcomes, embed insights, and measure impact.I am inspired by 1) co-creating research with individuals and communities that embed lived experience and 2) exploring digital media, tools, and environments as co-creators of human experience. I specialise in how structures, systems and environments (physical and digital) shape perception, experience, agency and community. My work is informed by the skills and knowledge developed through my career as a professional dance artist, educator and researcher. I believe that experiential knowledge is valuable for understanding how we move through the world and meet the challenges of the present day. I apply this experience in working with individuals and communities. Together, we reflect on what issues matter, which questions to ask, and what approaches to explore. In embedding living experience in research, I aim to establish environments that are empowering, immersive, inclusive and transformative. I also explore how our engagement with digital realms and computation transform what it means to be human. My new book \"Video annotation for dance and performance\"(Palgrave, 2025) focuses on manual practices of working with video to develop human (rather than computational) understanding. To counter the increasing delegation of memory, knowledge, decision-making and intuition to digital technologies, I am interested in getting back to basics and returning to the body.
