ABOUT REBECCA MATTANO

After graduating from the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps program, I finished my undergraduate degree in Conservation and Environmental Science. From there, I continued my career working with governmental agencies including the Bureau of Land Management and the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection doing field research. After years doing field work/research, ambitions steered me into the graduate program at UW-Stevens Point where I completed my graduate degree in Natural Resources. After graduate school, I accepted a position as an Environmental Science instructor at Carroll University, developed a real estate investment partnership/company and published several award-winning children\'s books.Currently, as the Park System Manager for Waukesha County, my primary role includes planning, development and operation of the natural resource based park system with over acres of parkland and greenways, including recreation trails, lakes, ice arenas and an environmental learning center. With a project management certification and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, I consistently apply collaborative and strategic approaches to develop, implement and evaluate process improvements to increase efficiencies and reduce costs. These efforts require a strong focus on utilization of performance metrics and data visualization, including dashboards, to monitor progress. In addition, I focus on mentoring a dynamic team of high performers with an emphasis on continuous improvement, serving on several committees and continuing to establish myself as a leader in fostering public-private partnerships and intergovernmental cooperation.
