About Rebecca Butcher

My current role is as a reporter and fill-in anchor in my native city, Memphis at WATN Local 24 News. In the Bluff City I was the only news crew reporting closet to a riot which escalated in the Frayser community after a US-marshal involved shooting. I previously worked as a multimedia journalist, anchor and producer for WTVA 9/WLOV Fox News in Tupelo, Mississippi. I report on a wide range of stories in the Tupelo and surrounding North Mississippi area. As a proud alumna of the University of Memphis, I acted as vice president of the National Association of Black Journalists and as an anchor and reporter for Tiger News. There, I majored in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Business Finance. I also worked as an assignment editor at WATN-TV in my senior year, where I learned my way around a newsroom and developed an even deeper passion for storytelling that grabbed a viewer\'s attention and kept it. While working out in the field, I thrive during breaking news and keep viewers connected by Twitter and Facebook. The key to any successful team is communication and I always strive to be a team player.
