Deputy Head of News & Sport at The Press and Journal, with 15 years at the brand and a track record of leading editorial teams through sustained industry change.I’ve held senior editorial and leadership roles across the organisation, including Business Editor, and have taken responsibility for complex editorial decision-making in high-pressure environments. I’ve led major digital transformation work, building and managing teams that have gone on to become among the most valuable in the newsroom, editorially, commercially and strategically.My strengths include content development, sharp editorial judgement and strong legal knowledge, enabling confident, responsible journalism. I’m an experienced columnist with deep audience insight and a clear understanding of how quality journalism performs across platforms.I’ve played a central role in developing the next generation of newsroom leaders, mentoring editors and senior reporters and helping build cultures that value accountability, ambition and collaboration.I currently help shape newsroom strategy at a senior level, guiding our response to AI, platform disruption and the impact of Google summaries, while protecting trust, relevance and long-term sustainability.
