As a naval and maritime professional with over four decades of experience across the Indian Navy and India’s leading private shipyards, my career has evolved at the intersection of defence technology, defence & commercial shipbuilding and large‑scale industrial transformation. I have led organisations of more than personnel, consistently delivering complex programmes with strategic clarity, operational discipline and a calm, steady command style. As Senior Vice President and Head of Nauyaan Shipyard (Ex ABG Shipyard) acquired by Welspun through NCLT, I led the revival and acquisition of a strategic shipyard, creating a multi‑year plan to enhance efficiency, optimise utilisation and unlock value from legacy assets. My responsibilities included operational restructuring, engineering coordination, regulatory compliance, asset disposal, land negotiations and industrial relations. I oversaw the disposal of surplus inventory and incomplete vessels, ensured continuity during acquisition and executed the seamless handover of the yard to Reliance Industries Ltd, enabling its long‑term re-purposing for the blue economy. Earlier, as Vice President & Head of L&T Shipyard, I delivered high‑value defence and commercial vessels — Offshore Patrol Vessels, Interceptor Boats, India’s first Floating Dry Dock, Seaward Defence Boats and AHTS vessels, including one for the US Navy — all ahead of schedule. The shipyard achieved 527 accident‑free days, earned the British Safety Council Five Star Rating and won the Sword of Honour in 2019 being the first shipyard of India. I also drove digitalisation through an indigenous ERP with 35+ dashboards and advanced sustainability practices, achieving 85% green energy utilisation. My naval career shaped my technical depth and worldview. As Project Director of the Advanced Technology Vessel Project, I oversaw design, construction, development and systems integration for India’s nuclear submarine programme during a sanctions‑driven era. As Defence Attaché to Sweden, I strengthened international defence cooperation and supported technology partnerships. Today, I bring to the boardroom deep experience in governance, ESG, Shipbuilding, defence technology management, operational excellence, digital transformation, safety and strategic infrastructure development. I understand how to manage complex stakeholder environments, balance national security with corporate goals and transform distressed assets into scalable enterprises.
