About Reagan Smith

Reagan graduated Wake Forest University, magna cum laude, with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and Spanish for Healthcare. She is driven by a commitment to patient-centered care and health equity. Her experiences span laboratory research, public health service, and community-based leadership. She completed an honors thesis in the Muday Lab examining plant root development, gaining strong research, analytical, and collaboration skills. Beyond the lab, she served over 900 hours with AmeriCorps Public Health, later returning as a Student Director to mentor participants and support program development. She also spent two years as a Pre-Orientation Director with the Office of Civic & Community Engagement, leading service-based programs that connected 150 new students yearly to the Winston-Salem community. Currently, she works at Cancer Services, Inc, supporting individuals and families navigating cancer care. She also works as a Community Healthcare Worker at the Shalom Clinic, providing free healthcare and medical interpretation to those in the community. These experiences have solidified her goal of pursuing medical school and ultimately training as a surgical oncologist, where she hopes to integrate scientific rigor, compassion, and community engagement into her practice.
