About Ron Downs
I’m a Product Owner working in the transportation and logistics tech space, focused on building tools that actually make people’s day-to-day work easier—whether that’s a broker trying to move a load, a rep managing customer accounts, or an ops team working through orders in a complex workflow. Over the past few years, I’ve worked closely with engineering, UX, and business stakeholders to modernize core parts of our platform, including customer account experiences, scheduling workflows, activity logging, and several improvements to our end-to-end order lifecycle across EDI, API, and manual flows. A lot of my work centers on taking complicated operational problems and turning them into clear requirements, usable workflows, and products that hold up in the real world. I’m also heavily involved in discovery and refinement: breaking down ambiguous ideas, defining acceptance criteria, mapping processes, and helping teams understand not just what we’re building—but why it matters. I value clarity, structure, and thoughtful iteration, and I try to bring that mindset into every feature and every conversation. Outside of work, I’m usually in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes, spending time with my partner, or out with our dogs around Austin. I appreciate a good routine, a clean workspace, and anything that makes everyday life run a little smoother.
Experience
Senior Product Owner
Mar 2026 — Present · Austin, TX, US
As a Senior Product Owner at Echo Global Logistics, I lead product development across two teams within the shipper platform, helping modernize how customers, orders, and operational workflows are managed across our transportation management systems. My role expanded to include ownership of an additional engineering team, broadening my responsibility for several core components of our product suite and enabling greater alignment across related platform capabilities.I partner closely with engineering, UX, data, and business stakeholders to translate complex operational challenges into clear product strategy, well-defined requirements, and practical solutions that support high-volume logistics operations. Much of my work focuses on modernizing legacy functionality into scalable services within our next-generation platform while ensuring continuity for the teams that rely on these tools every day. With 4 years of experience across product ownership and business analysis, I’m comfortable operating in ambiguity, leading discovery efforts, defining future-state workflows, and guiding teams through iterative delivery in an agile environment. I’m particularly focused on building platform capabilities that scale, reduce manual effort, improve system reliability, and create intuitive experiences for operational users working in fast-moving logistics environments.
