ABOUT RAZVAN HOPET

I am a senior Operations & Engineering leader with deep experience delivering complex, safety-critical industrial programmes, from early-stage technology development through to pilot, industrial trials and commercial-scale deployment.Chartered mechanical engineer with a degree from Lincoln University and a chartered member of the Chartered Management Institute.My career spans more than 15 years across heavy industry, manufacturing operations, and low-carbon technology, combining hands-on operational credibility with executive-level delivery, risk management, and governance.I began my career in the UK steel industry, spending over a decade in operational and engineering roles across integrated steelworks environments. This gave me first-hand experience of large-scale industrial systems, safety-critical operations, asset reliability, industrial relations, realities of cost, downtime, and performance in live production environments.I later moved into high-performance manufacturing, leading production teams within an OEM environment, further strengthening my experience in people leadership, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and delivery under demanding quality and safety standards.I currently lead Operations & Engineering for an industrial technology company focused on decarbonising ironmaking. In this role, I am responsible for translating novel process technology into operational reality, including plant design, engineering scope, CAPEX/OPEX development, pilot industrial trials, environmental, safety compliance, and readiness for commercial deployment.I have led multidisciplinary teams delivering complex programmes involving mechanical, electrical, process, controls, civil engineering, working closely with customers, suppliers, regulators, and senior stakeholders. My focus is consistently on execution certainty: designing solutions that are operable, safe, commercially viable, and scalable.I am particularly experienced in operating at the interface between technology innovation industrial delivery, reducing execution risk, ensuring governance is proportionate robust, aligning engineering decisions with operational, financial, and safety outcomes.I am motivated by roles where disciplined delivery, operational excellence, and long-term value creation matter more than hype particularly within infrastructure, heavy industry, and the energy transition.
