ABOUT YUKI RAY MACHIDA
Ray is a designer from Japan who believes that solidifying concepts is key to successful design. While graphic and web skills are his strengths, he views them as tools to bring well-formed concepts to life, creating designs that provide value not just to clients but to end users as well.Ray is currently seeking an opportunity where he can apply his creative skills in areas like branding and website design. Most recently, Ray worked as a web & graphic designer at Advisor Websites (a Snappy Kraken company), a digital marketing firm specializing in websites and branding for financial advisors. He collaborated with client onboarding teams to build websites using the company’s platform, adding custom design elements and functionality with front-end development. He also enjoyed designing logos and branding packages for clients new to the financial industry or looking to refresh their brand. In addition to his full-time role, Ray has been active as a freelance designer, handling a variety of projects for businesses and organizations. These experiences, which include work in videography and photography, have given him fresh perspectives on creative processes, and he thoroughly enjoys every project.Ray spent most of his youth in Ontario, Canada, becoming bilingual in English and Japanese. After completing a 4-year program at Keio University in Japan, he began his design career at a Tokyo advertising agency before relocating to Canada.Shortly after returning to Canada, Ray enrolled in the New Media Design and Web Development program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). There, he enhanced his design and development skills while building valuable industry connections. This led to subsequent roles at Massive Media Inc, COS Educational Consulting Inc, and Advisor Websites.
