About Ray Shively
I work at the intersection of public health, healthcare systems, and community organizations to improve health literacy and expand access to behavioral health resources across Hampton Roads.I’ve built partnerships with health departments, Community Services Boards, coalitions, and healthcare systems to design and implement scalable initiatives that improve health literacy, expand access to care, and connect residents with critical behavioral health and community resources. My work focuses on aligning community-based programs with healthcare delivery systems to strengthen prevention, navigation, and earlier intervention.I bring executive experience in strategy and technology leadership from Bank of America, where I led large-scale transformation initiatives within complex enterprise environments. Today, I apply that background in systems thinking, digital strategy, and cross-sector collaboration to help communities better connect public health, healthcare systems, and the resources people rely on for care and support.I currently serve on the Board of Directors for NAMI Coastal Virginia and contribute to regional health strategy through the Virginia Beach Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) Steering Committee and Mental Health Work Group, the Healthy Chesapeake Health Literacy Council, and the Healthy Portsmouth leadership team.My mission is to build stronger bridges between healthcare systems, public health, and the communities they serve—so people can find the support they need earlier and more easily.
