ABOUT RAY LYU

As a Bachelor of Engineering student majoring in Material Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at McMaster University, I am passionate about material testing, data analysis, metallurgy, and manufacturing. I am expected to graduate in September 2023 with a solid academic foundation and a strong interest in research and innovation. Currently, I am working as an Advanced Manufacturing Data Analyst and Processor at McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute, where I have streamlined data processing, analysis, and visualization using automation tools such as Python, Julia, MATLAB, and PowerBI. I have also optimized data storage and dashboard connectivity by architecting PostgreSQL and MongoDB structure, and boosted maintenance efficiency by using machine learning and artificial intelligence models to forecast health status based on historical data. In addition, I have cultivated robust relationship-building, communication, and teamwork skills by collaborating with the industrial partner and engaging in CNC training and assessment protocols. Previously, I have also contributed to engineering research events as an Event Coordinator at MacSER, and developed a full-stack web application for a research calculation database as a Full-stack Developer/Research Assistant at National Research Council Canada. I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies, and to apply them to real-world problems and challenges. I have also developed a keen appreciation for art and beauty, which inspires me to be creative and optimistic in my personal and professional endeavors. I am actively looking for a Winter Coop opportunity where I can leverage my data analysis and processing expertise, and further enhance my engineering and research capabilities.
