About Ray Battani
I have spent more than 40 years in the HVAC and building systems business, leading service teams, developing people, and helping customers improve reliability, performance, and long-term asset value. Today, my focus is on growing ColonialWebb’s building automation, controls, and building performance business, helping connect technical delivery with smarter lifecycle support across HVACR, plumbing, and electrical systems. This work builds on experience I have had before, when I led our energy services business and worked with customers on solutions designed to improve building performance, lower operating costs, and support better long-term decisions around their facilities, including lighting controls and hot water savings. At the time, energy economics in Virginia made it harder for many customers to justify those investments. Today, with total energy costs rising and greater demand for better building visibility and performance, I believe that opportunity is returning in a stronger form through BAS, controls, analytics, and more proactive service strategies. BAS plays an important role in that future because it serves as a central source of data, both from its own controls and through integration with other building systems. That visibility helps support better decisions, stronger building performance, and a more proactive approach to service and maintenance. Customers are looking for more than reactive repairs and scheduled, calendar-based maintenance. They want better visibility into system performance and better information to support smarter decisions. As analytics and system data improve, service is moving toward a more proactive approach, where issues can be identified earlier and maintenance can be performed based more on actual system condition and need, not just the calendar. That shift is creating new opportunities for customers and for our industry, and I am excited to be part of it.
