Ray is Director of Operations at Marathon\'s Martinez Renewables Facility, leading the refinery in providing safe, compliant, and reliable operations in providing renewable fuels to California.He earned a BS Chemical Engineering in May 2010 from the Illinois Institute of Technology and Masters of Arctic Engineering in January 2017 from the University of Alaska. He spent his first 6 years in industry with UOP Honeywell as Chief Technical Adviser traveling abroad from country-to-country advising new refinery unit checkout, commissioning, and start-ups. He then spent 6 years at Marathon\'s Kenai, Alaska Refinery including former roles as Process Engineer, Operations Day Superintendent, Tech Services Manager, and finally as Operations Area Team Manager where he led a team of 40 operators and shift foremen. He was then chosen to lead as an Operations Area Team Manager (Leader/Superintendent) at Marathon\'s Galveston Bay, Texas Refinery leading multiple operations teams of 100 for nearly 2 years. In 2023, He was promoted to Technical Services Director at Marathon\'s Detroit Refinery leading a team of 60 Process, Process Optimization, and Process Controls Engineers, as well as IT and Laboratory staff in the mission to support safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operations as they move Detroit Forward.His UOP experience included 6 years mostly overseas providing technical services during commissioning, catalyst loading, and startup operations, as well as some time with R&D hydroprocessing pilot plant operations, catalyst development, and Engineering. Field Service projects included Israel, Spain, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Czech Republic, Italy, China, Brazil, and Turkey on Hydroprocessing, Ecofining (renewable diesel), and FB Platforming Units.He will continue to lead and improve safe, compliant, and profitable refineries.
