Develop and implement shipping strategies that optimize cost-effectiveness, meet customer requirements, and comply with regulatory requirements. • Develop and maintain relationships with shipping carriers and freight forwarders to ensure ongoing supply chain stability and identify potential opportunities for cost savings or process improvements. • Ensure that shipments are delivered on time, at the best possible cost, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, including customs regulations, import/export controls, and hazardous materials regulations • Stay up to date with industry trends, shipping regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure that the company remains competitive and compliant. • Implements location-specific and area quality goals and action plans to achieve quality standards. • Manages the staffing through the appropriate hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR. • Lead and manage a team of shipping professionals, including setting goals and performance targets, providing feedback and coaching, and supporting professional development. • Ensuring a strong and robust communications process between all managers and staff within the area and across the division as needed by leading communications sessions and meetings with managers and ensuring the appropriate dissemination of communications to support staff. • Ensures all employees receive the appropriate training and education, including ongoing compliance training. • Manage the shipping budget and provide regular reports to senior management on shipping activities and performance. • Manage all documentation required for the legal and efficient international movement of goods. • Develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues. • Train and educate employees in regulations and industry practices. • Oversee and manage customs declarations for imports and exports.
