At first, I booked the domain called writeelephant.com. Now it is thewritenews.com. At first I published thousand words daily. After a couple of months got the approval from Google AdSense and got Ads plugged in also. It ran pretty well until COVID-19 hit in early 2020. I learnt how to run a successful blog generating $60-70 daily. The mistake I did was to get choosy over the ads that were being displayed on my blog. I was approving only those products that were physical and can be shipped. The rest weren’t allowed to be displayed. When COVID-19 hit, these products and advertising revenues stopped all of a sudden. The revenues fell to almost $.15 a day. At this point, it was not viable for me to maintain the blog with all its expenses. So, closed the current account and I am also in the process of closing the concerned GST, as well. It would take two years as per the rules. Notwithstanding the losses, I learnt what is meant by running a successful business. My failure lies in not being able to tide over the lack of the advertiser revenue from Google AdSense, Amazon affiliate program and such.
