About Ravi Bhandari

I am a well-credentialed life and annuity actuary with 30+ years of diverse insurance company and consulting experience. I have a proven track record of taking the initiative to seek out new career paths or projects, and delivering results. I successfully transitioned from engineer to management consultant to actuary to consulting actuary, while earning applicable professional credentials along the way. I enjoy the challenge of learning new things, which has taken me from traditional actuarial roles to hands-on project management compliance roles in Model Validation (ERM) and Internal Audit. In addition to educating myself for these roles and projects, my outgoing personality allows me to proudly use my professional network for additional effectiveness and efficiency.I have considerable hands-on experience spanning various modeling platforms, use cases, and life and annuity products, as well as developing and implementing the supporting governance. Most recently, I have been deeply involved with implementing and/or enhancing PBR models, reporting and governance, including serving as the PBR Qualified Actuary.I’m passionate about the actuarial profession and am a dedicated volunteer for Society of Actuaries (SOA) Education and Examination (E&E) committees over the past 20+ years, mostly serving in leadership roles (e.g, Chairman), as well as for the American Academy of Actuaries as the LVC Chair. This work has allowed me to keep abreast of new developments, develop a broad professional network and contribute to the effectiveness of future generations of actuaries. I’m especially proud of being recognized by the SOA for my volunteer efforts in 2012.When I’m not working, I enjoy volunteering in my local community and serving the underprivileged as an IRS VITA tax preparer, which I’ve done as a member of BakerRipley’s Volunteer Leadership Team for the past 15+ years by annually preparing over 100+ tax returns and training 100+ other volunteers.When I’m not in front of a computer, I enjoy working out in the gym and playing golf.poorly.
