About Ravi Singh
Experienced Founder with a 24-year history of organizing health camps and health electives for residents and students from all health fields in remote Himalayan regions of North India. A native the Himalayas, Ravi was born and raised in Shimla, the capital city of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. He has participated in and led bicycle, motorcycle and trekking expeditions throughout the Himalayas. He moved to the U.S. in the mid-1980s to pursue higher education and business interests. In 1992, he founded Himalayan Spirit Expeditions, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with his love for the Himalayas. It was on these expeditions to remote regions that he became aware of the deficiencies in healthcare for the rural populations. In 1996, he founded the Himalayan Health Exchange. After four years of running health camps, the prevalence of Rheumatic Heart Disease in the Western Indian Himalayas prompted Ravi to start ‘Project Heart’ in The program is dedicated to sponsoring patients with the disease for Mitral Valve Replacement surgeries.
