ABOUT RAVI MULLAPUDI
With over two decades of extensive expertise in the field of structural engineering, forensic investigations, building envelope design, litigation, research, condition assessments, structural analyses, non-destructive testing, rehabilitation, repair design, new design, sustainability practices, and construction and contract observations. I have designed and investigated various structures throughout my career, including residential, commercial, industrial, parking facilities, bridges, offshore structures, nuclear facilities, cooling towers, gas turbines, spillways, and dams. My evaluations extend to the built environment, covering normal design loads as well as potential impacts from natural and manmade disasters, such as earthquakes, blasts, impacts, fires, waves, tornadoes, and hurricanes.I hold certifications as a professional engineer in civil (PE), structural engineer (SE), registered building envelope consultant (RBEC), and leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED). I practice in multiple states. My familiarity with building codes and specifications, including IBC, ACI, AISC, NDS, NRCA, API, and ASCE 7, underscores my commitment to upholding industry standards. Proficient in various finite element structural engineering programs, including ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, ANSYS, USFOS, SAP FEMAP, STAAD PRO, and DIANA, I employ advanced tools to deliver comprehensive solutions.Currently, I contribute actively to committees on the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Committee on Forensic Investigations, the ASCE Committee on Blast-Resistant Design at Petrochemical Facilities, the ASCE Committee on Anchorage Design for Petrochemical Facilities, and the ACI Committee on Nondestructive Testing of Concrete. My research contributions include over 50 journal papers and conference proceedings on seismic loadings, soil structure interaction, impact loadings, materials, and fastening technology. Notably, I have received first-place awards in international Blind Simulation Contests, predicting the blast behavior of concrete members (by NSF) and the nonlinear behavior of steel members under cyclic loading (by NIST & ATC). I have received Outstanding Reviewer awards from the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering and Journal of Bridge Engineering, alongside prestigious fellowships, including the ASCE O.H Ammann Research Fellowship in Structural Engineering, ASCE Trent R. Dames and William W. Moore Fellowship, and DAAD Fellowship.
