I joined Acceleron Pharma as the first scientist and established world class discovery group focusing on cutting edge biology. Established TGF beta superfamily as a drug discovery platform and introduced seven development candidates into clinic. One of the candidates just got approval as the first erythroid maturation agent for the treatment of anemia in beta thalassemia due to ineffective erythropoiesis while other three are in clinical development (including Ph1 and Ph2). One of the Ph2 molecule met all the primary and secondary end points in pulmonary arterial hypertension and is advancing towards next stage of clinical development. As the molecules advanced from early discovery to development, led GMP cell line development, manufacturing and QC group. Filed first IND within two years of starting Discovery group. As a member of Product Development and Executive Committee, got broad management experience in drug development. My motivation is to bring novel therapeutics to patients by pursuing cutting edge, innovative drug discovery process, building motivated cross functional teams, promoting collaboration (external and internal), and common goal.
