About Ratna Viswanathan
As the CEO of Reach to Teach India, I am passionate about improving the quality of education and learning outcomes in government schools across the country. I have been a career civil servant for over two decades and have over 35 years of experience in various sectors apart from the civil service, including development, microfinance, environment and education. I hold a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Lucknow.My core competencies are governance, strategy, and people management, which I have used to create positive social impact and transformation in different contexts. At Reach to Teach India, I lead a team of professionals who design and implement innovative and activity-based learning solutions that are aligned with the curriculum and learning objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 and are aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education),10 (Reduced Inequalities) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)I constantly am striving to build strategic partnerships with public and private sector stakeholders to support and enhance the systemic change in the education sector. Previously, I have been at senior leadership positions in international Not for Profits, such as Oxfam and VSO (British Charities). Post that, I moved to the microfinance sector, where I created the Self Regulating Organisation (SRO) framework for the \'for profit\' microfinance entities in line with the steer of the Reserve Bank of India and led compliance for the sector on regulation and governance, working closely with the Reserve Bank of India. Subsequently, I supported UNEP in setting up their Sustainable India Finance Facility as an international consultant and have worked with UNDP India, where I created blended finance models for the country programme. I am passionate about working towards creating an equitable and sustainable ecosystem through effective and inclusive collaboration to create access for people who are under served.
