About Greg Ratajik
I’m an AI-First Architect at Microsoft and a seasoned technologist with over 25 years in tech across startups and enterprises. As a four-time startup founder and principal engineer, I’ve led high-performing teams through full-stack projects spanning React Native, Node.js, Python, and C#. This broad experience helps me bridge strategic vision with hands-on development across varied platforms. My mission now is making AI a fundamental part of how we build and work. I focus on integrating the latest Large Language Models (LLMs) and Copilot/Claude Code/Agent capabilities directly into real products, while also reinventing engineering culture at Microsoft to be AI-first. I’ve helped launch multiple AI-driven features from public preview to general availability (e.g. bringing and agent capabilities into our enterprise applications), proving how quickly we can go from idea to impact. Just as importantly, I co-created Camp AIR, an immersive program that has trained over engineers across Microsoft in AI-first development practices. Through these cross-company initiatives, I teach developers how to massively increase their productivity with tools like GitHub Copilot and Anthropic’s Claude Code, introduce game-changing patterns, and best practices. By embracing AI at every level – from daily coding to strategic planning – I help teams work not just faster, but also smarter and more creatively. This has included working inside my org (BIC), broadly across Microsoft, and the industry (bringing AI-First to our strategic partners) Beyond my day job, I remain passionate about AI’s potential to transform creativity. I’m currently building a multi-agent, multi-model system to help fiction and non-fiction authors in their writing process, blending technological innovation with human imagination.
Experience
Ai-first Architect
Dec 2025 — Present · Redmond, WA, US
As a Principal AI First Architect, I lead AI innovation across Microsoft’s Business & Industry Copilot organization and beyond. I push the boundaries of what’s possible with large language models and generative AI, embedding these capabilities into products and helping transform how we design, build, and deliver software.A core part of my work is enabling and inspiring engineering teams to adopt AI powered development practices. I cofounded Camp AIR, a flagship training initiative that has enabled more than engineers across multiple Microsoft teams to practice AI first development and rethink how they work with AI.Through blended workshops, hackathons, and hands on coaching, I design and teach practical, production ready approaches using tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to unlock significant productivity gains. I emphasize best practices including memory architectures that give complex codebases usable “memory” for LLMs, AI supplemented Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) to better align human and AI efforts, and an engineering focused approach to vibe coding that balances speed, security, and quality.By embedding these practices and continuously adapting to a rapidly evolving field, teams are accelerating workflows, improving code quality, and using AI as a true development partner rather than a novelty. In parallel, I provide strategic leadership on AI adoption and foster cross team collaboration within my organization and across Microsoft. I regularly partner with teams companywide to share AI best practices, amplify successful patterns, host AI first office hours, and support AI transformation across global Microsoft sites. In short, I wear multiple hats - innovator, strategist, engineer, and educator - all focused on making AI first development the new normal and helping engineers build the future faster and smarter.#AITransformation #AITransformation #LLM #AIDevelopment #FutureOfWork #EngineeringCulture #EngineeringLeadership
