About Raquel Wexler
I have extensive experience working in international development and humanitarian affairs with the United Nations, government and Non-Governmental Organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Most of my career has been spent either designing/executing strategic plans and RBM processes or supporting fundraising, advocacy, media and communications. I have developed communications products and publications in English, French and Spanish; written numerous speeches for senior management; delivered speeches and presentations at events and for global webinars in English, Spanish and French; and developed multimedia and social media content. I also have a strong background in social science research, having conducted numerous research studies, surveys and evaluations for UN organizations, and governments. I have developed results-based management training and delivered related trainings in the field. I have also supported inter-agency and intergovernmental processes, through work with the UN Development Coordination Office. With UNICEF, I helped raise a $5 million dollar donation from the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for the prevention of maternal and newborn deaths and $3 million dollars for the scale up of innovative tech platforms to support the real-time monitoring of national programs. Beyond the United Nations, I served as a fundraiser for the 2012 Obama for America campaign and spearheaded local fundraisers in Brooklyn. I have provided Executive support to senior U.N. leadership, and served as interim Executive Manager to the Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund on various occasions between 20••••17. I was a member of the Board of Directors of Amigos de las Americas – a non-profit devoted to youth leadership development, international service and community capacity building in Latin America - and served as chair of its program committee. I have travelled and worked overseas extensively, including extended posts in the Caucuses, Central Africa and Latin America with UNFPA, UNICEF and Amigos de las Americas. I have led large teams (60+) in Latin America and smaller teams with the United Nations. I speak Spanish and Portuguese fluently and have high proficiency in French. I serve Chair of the Parent Equity Council at a local school and support the co-creation of diversity, equity and inclusion discussions and activities, as well as social impact initiatives for students and families.
