ABOUT RAQUEL BETINI
I am a lead researcher and data analyst with over 15 years of experience, holding a PhD in Public Health and Health Systems (Aging, Health and Wellbeing program) from the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. John P. Hirdes, as well as a PhD in Sciences from the University of São Paulo. My work focuses on improving the wellbeing of older adults and supporting family caregivers. During my PhD, I evaluated the award-winning Caregiver Recharge Services (3M Health Care Quality Team Award, Minister’s Medal), developed the Caregiver Wellbeing Index to identify caregivers at risk, and contributed to the interRAI Self-Reported Carer Needs (SCaN) Assessment. My contributions to caregiver research were recognized with an Innovation Award in 2016. I have worked closely with Local Health Integration Networks, home care decision support teams, and community support agencies, gaining a deep understanding of the interconnected health and social service sectors in Ontario. At CIHI, I apply advanced analytics to health system research, including projects examining the impact of COVID-19 on home and long-term care and the trajectories of people living with dementia in the health sector.I am a passionate and inclusive leader who believes high-quality data can drive meaningful change and improve the lives of vulnerable people in the community and long-term care settings.
