ABOUT RAPHAËL SARFATI
How do LLMs think? Why is language so efficient at describing the world? What patterns emerge from the interactions of a multitude of components, whether weights in a model or animals in a group? These are some of the questions I am interested in.I\'ve applied the framework of statistical physics and complex systems to a broad range of topics, from the mechanics of soft materials, to the collective behavior of sheep and fireflies, and most recently the inner workings of large language models.Originally from Paris, France I have lived in New England, Colorado, Seattle, and explored thousands of miles of trails across the United States. Now seeking opportunities to contribute to meaningful and far-reaching projects at the interface of AI, science, and society.
