Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)Summary:The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health disorders. They work with patients across the lifespan and often collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic mental health care.Key Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments.Diagnose mental health conditions (e.g, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD).Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications.Provide psychotherapy (individual, group, or family) based on clinical judgment.Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and medication management.Collaborate with other healthcare providers (physicians, therapists, social workers).Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.Participate in crisis intervention and stabilization when needed.Stay current with developments in psychiatry and mental health practices.Qualifications:Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with a PMHNP specialization.Active and unrestricted APRN license and PMHNP certification (ANCC).State-specific Nurse Practitioner license and DEA registration (if applicable).Experience in mental health or psychiatric settings preferred.Excellent communication, clinical, and organizational skills.Knowledge of EMR systems and telehealth platforms (if applicable).Work Settings:Outpatient psychiatric clinicsTelepsychiatry platformsPrivate practice
