Roles and responsibility include: Advising in relation to legal and structural issues; reputational risk; regulatory change which may impact the business, with particular focus on defaults, restructurings and disputes arising on various structured and straight debt products, e.g. Project Finance, Islamic Finance, Repackagings, CMBS/ABS, CLOs/CDOs; instructing and managing external counsel and financial advisors appropriately and cost effectively; analysing a wide variety of finance and other documentation; representing and reporting such matters to executive and risk & governance committees; product development; coordinating surveys of cross-border security interests; representing and participating on industry associations (ICMSA and FMLC). Notable experiences include: Risk management and stabilisation of various cross-border defaults e.g. Dana Gas Sukuk, Fairhold Securitisation; part of the Bank’s CASS and BREXIT cross working groups; representing the bank and the business on other internal and/or industry working groups e.g. Dodd-Frank/Volcker Rule, FATCA and BRRD, AMLD4/5.
