About Ranit Mishori
Dr. Ranit Mishori is a physician leader with >20 years of experience working globally at the intersection of medicine, public health, and human rights, who has led complex operations, and has built and managed award-winning initiatives and diverse teams. Dr. Mishori currently serves as Georgetown University’s VP & Chief Public Health Officer, where she leads the University’s strategic and operational response to the COVID-19 pandemic and other public health emergencies. She established and oversees the university’s Public Health team, and provides strategic guidance and technical expertise in creating policies, establishing, and implementing operations and protocols related to testing, contact tracing, vaccination, data management, compliance, community relations, strategic communications, and more. Pre-pandemic, Dr. Mishori was deeply engaged in research, teaching, and clinical care, directed the Department of Family Medicine\'s Global Health Initiatives, the Health Policy and Health and Media Fellowships, and led Georgetown’s Practice-Based Research Network, among other roles. Dr. Mishori brings a social justice and human rights lens to all her professional pursuits. From an early start as a journalist covering wars for global news organizations, she has been focused on the far-reaching impact of conflict. As a physician and advocate, she is widely recognized for her research on and work with forced migrants, torture survivors, asylum seekers, and people affected by sexual violence. This work dovetails with her position as Senior Medical Advisor for Physicians for Human Rights, where she is the in-house medical expert on conflict-related sexual violence (including the multiple award-winning MediCapt App) and the Asylum Program. She is deeply engaged in programmatic work, teaching, research, advocacy, and organizational strategy related to COVID-19, detention, and multi-sectoral training, among others. Dr. Mishori has received multiple awards and has served on multiple local, national, and international advisory boards and committees. She has co-authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, and published than 300 articles in the popular media. She frequently represents Georgetown and PHR on TV, radio, print, and web-based news outlets.
