Right through my working life I have been successful in building good and passionate teams. Organisation structures I think are for administration purposes and as far as work goes teams are most often more important than brilliant individuals. I believe in minimal hierarchy and that teams need a good blend of thinkers and doers. Leading and following when required are two sides of the same coin.A Mechanical Engineer, from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai with Management from XLRI Jamshedpur, I have been working for over 40 years in Marketing, Sales, Design, Project Management, Finance, HR, Business strategy and General Management.Experienced in the manufacture of Boilers, Burners, Incinerators, Pollution Control and Energy Recovery equipment, I have also been involved in setting up small captive power plants and high tension transmission lines in the Middle East.For twenty two years, my focus in Grundfos was not only been on setting up the company and its production facilities, but also to build the brand equity. Today Grundfos is well known for its pumps and for its sustainable practices focused on of life cycle costs, energy and water conservation. In Grundfos I also played the role of a lead assessor for talent centres and in business excellence audits. I have worked with people from more than thirty countries and have travelled to more than fifty countries. I retired from Grundfos on 31 Mar 2020 but continue to work on initiatives on sustainability, energy, skill development and water conservation. Currently am on the board of a few listed and unlisted companies as an independent director.I am also on the advisory boards of two NGO\'s one focused on mental health and the other on primary education. Other then this I run a small consultancy Strategy Catalysts Pvt Ltd focusing on small and medium family businesses and on organisation from outside India looking to establish a footprint in India.In the past have been the President of the Madras Management Association, the Chairman of the Tamilnadu Council of CII and the Chairman of (Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy). I do enjoy speaking on subjects such as water, energy, education and skill development.Currently, I am a part of CII National Committee on water, on the advisory board of the CII Triveni water institute and a member of the executive committee of the IGBC ) Indian Green Building Council)
