About Ranette L. Releford
Leading with a steadfast commitment to educational equity, community awareness, and women’s empowerment, my career has been marked by proactive community engagement and advocacy. These efforts are complemented by my ongoing work as a Commissioner of Education, consultant, and Doula. I leverage my expertise to support women navigating personal adversities through mentorship and professional development programs.At the heart of my mission lies a dedication to fostering inclusive environments and safeguarding the well-being of mothers and infants. My dual roles enable me to enact meaningful change, from shaping educational landscapes to providing one-on-one care, all rooted in my core competencies of convening diverse groups and navigating complex community dynamics.Oversight of law enforcement was an additional avenue, I’ve utilized to contribute to my community through innovative ideas to move the Citizen Review Board into the 21st Century. This included tripling the staff and almost doubling the budget. Enhancing technology and improving the relationship between the local police department and the CRB. This relationship building was key to improving document sharing and communications over my 7 years in that position. My goal was to increase transparency between the departments for my community while attempting to build trust between the community and law enforcement to improve accountability.
