Minuteman provides assistance in the immediate aftermath of a disaster through the deployment of highly trained and equipped volunteers to assist with debris cleanup and search and rescue operations. As Director of Operations for FEMA Region 4, my role is to expand our organization (volunteers and equipment) based out of Birmingham, AL, to serve Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, North and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, in addition to other areas in the country where we can be of assistance. Our primary services are to assist homeowners at no cost after a disaster with cleanup using chainsaws and heavy equipment, and also to clear and treat flooded homes, enabling the homeowner to start the rebuild process.
