ABOUT RANDY PASAY
The idea of building something from the ground up has always fascinated me! I continue to marvel at how seemingly-different systems come together and work in tandem with one another so that I can build something that has never existed before. I also relish the idea of embracing seemingly-impossible challenges where I set - and inspire my team to exceed - crucial targets so that we aim to meet the tightest of deadlines. I was privileged to have joined Cenovus in the late 1990\'s, initially as an Electrical Engineering Coordinator at AEC Ecuador Ltd. in Quito. While there, I was faced with some considerable challenges unique to an emerging third world country - namely logistics, security, political instability, a foreign language, and an unfamiliar culture. Even with these obstacles, I was successful in executing multi-million-dollar projects. Key to my success is adopting a \"janitor\" mindset where I clean up the messes that others have made to turn around problematic projects, thereby meeting some very-challenging goals and objectives. As I rose through the ranks, I was repeatedly bestowed leadership-level accountabilities. The quotes below perfectly mirror my leadership style:*\"The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.\" Ronald Reagan*\"Don\'t tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results.\" George Patton *\"There is a difference between being a leader and being a boss. Both are based on authority. A boss demands blind obedience; a leader earns his authority through understanding and trust.\" Klaus BalkenholI hold steadfast to the philosophy of RESULTS ≠ NO RESULTS + EXCUSES when it comes to streamlining processes, increasing production, and boosting efficiency levels while saving millions of dollars in operational costs.
