ABOUT RANDY BRANT

Randy practices in three areas: family law, wills & estates (including estate litigation), and residential real estate. He has previously served the firm and predecessor firm as managing partner and on the executive committee for the firm.In family law matters, Randy is also pleased to have expanded his practice to include Family Mediation. Mediation is voluntary process wherein a neutral third party facilitates the negotiation of a mutually acceptable agreement. The process can take place either with legal counsel present or with the parties alone. Mediation is interest based negotiation that often allows parties to express their needs and concerns. Mediation can often resolve matters in both a more efficient and fulsome fashion with the participants feeling that their needs are more fully met. It assists the parties in dealing with all issues but may be particularly helpful when there are children and the parties will need to continue to co-parent or if there is a family business.With respect to wills and estates, Randy has drafted numerous Wills and Powers of Attorney, and has experience dealing with property, guardianship, trusts including Henson Trusts and estate administration. He has also negotiated disputes and conducted Litigation in the Superior Court of Justice concerning estates including: Holograph Wills, will interpretation, setting aside wills, dependents relief, and disputes concerning jointly held assets. Randy is a frequent presenter on wills and estates issues.This year marks the 25th anniversary of Randy Brant’s call to the Bar. Randy joined what was then, Smith Smith Gazzola Sansom and Holub as an articling student in 1990. Randy is a valuable member of our firm as a partner and head of the Family Law group. Through his dedication and leadership, Randy has been instrumental in building the firm’s Family Law practice, making it one of the largest in the Tri City area.
