About my service I am a Living Green member at district isd197. I work directly with LIVEGREEN, which is the district\'s sustainability program that promotes energy saving and recycling initiatives throughout the district. Each school in the District has a LIVEGREEN team that consists of students and a teacher. These teams help implement low-cost or no cost energy efficiency strategies to reduce energy, promote recycling and composting, and focus on conserving resources. The service I provide is for District isd197 who represents West St. Paul, Mendota Heights and Egan. The focus is on grass roots outreach, education and engagement, while working directly with the school LIVEGREEN (environmental club) Leaders and LIVEGREEN teams in the district. I also educate many students, faculty, building engineers and community members about energy conservation and sustainable practices by creating opportunities with new ways of promoting behavior changes and education. Why I serveThe reason why I serve is because I live on planet earth and I am part of this environment. When I found out about Minnesota GreenCorps and what they do, it sounded perfect for me. I care tremendously about the voiceless like the trees, oceans, lakes, rivers, animals, and plants. I also feel that it is the duty of mankind to make sure we are good stewards of the only home we have.
