On May 20, 2025 I was elected, by the voters in Mount Vernon, to serve a three year term as School Board Trustee. As Trustee I am responsible for the following: • Setting a Vision and Work Goals to establish a clear vision for the district, and aligning it with the needs and desires of the community. • Developing, Implementing, and Maintaining Policies that guide the district\'s operations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. • Hiring and Evaluating the Superintendent, who serves as the chief executive of the school district. • Developing and Approving the Annual Districts Budget ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support student achievement. • Advocating for Students and the District representing their interests within the community and with external stakeholders. • Monitoring Student Achievement data and holding the district accountable for results. • Fostering Community Engagement by building strong relationships with the community, encouraging collaboration and input on important decisions. • Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility by managing public funds and ensuring that they are used responsibly and effectively. • Promoting a Positive School Culture by striving to create a positive and supportive learning environment for both students and staff. • Serving as a Link between the Community and the District acting as a bridge between the community and the school district, keeping the community informed about district matters and representing their concerns to the board.
