ABOUT RANDALL TOY

Scientific leader with over 11 years of experience with R&D for gene therapy. I make decisions and influence research strategy in the Nucleic Acid Research group at Novo Nordisk. In my role, I screen formulations for nucleic acid drugs and bring lead candidates through preclinical development. To accelerate research execution, I evaluate high-throughput screening technologies, build automated workflows, and lead the implementation of machine learning for formulation design. I have experience both as a project manager and a people manager. My primary technical expertise is in the formulation, characterization, and in vitro/in vivo screening of nanoparticles for drug delivery. I have worked with lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and polymer nanoparticles that deliver siRNA, mRNA, DNA, or gene editors. I have worked on drugs for the eye, oncology, vaccines, hemophilia, and cardiometabolic disease. I have published 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 2 book chapters, and 5 patent applications. I am strongly motivated to advance cutting edge platform technologies into clinical development and aspire to be an enterprise leader in pharma/biotech.
