I started my career as a petroleum engineer, spending over a decade at National Oilwell Varco working in the field, running optimization projects, and managing engineering teams across Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the UK. That hands-on experience gave me something most AI engineers don\'t have: a deep understanding of what actually matters on the drill floor.In 2020, I founded DarkCirrus AI with a simple idea — automate the tedious, high-stakes work that engineers deal with every day. My first target was drill bit dull grading, a process that had been done manually and inconsistently for decades. I built a computer vision platform that can grade a drill bit in under a minute with greater consistency than a human expert. That platform was acquired by ZerdaLab, where I now serve as Director of AI Solutions and continue expanding the system into offset analysis, benchmarking, and full drill bit lifecycle management.My approach to AI isn\'t about chasing trends — it\'s about finding the specific bottlenecks where automation creates real economic value, then building the smallest possible system that solves it reliably.
