ABOUT RANA ABID AMIN

Highly-motivated, self-directed, strategic thinker, hardworking Professional, proven track record as a leader, with a diverse educational background, having more than 30 years of experience and service to profession. Presently working with National grid UK. Most of my professional experience is with Siemens. I am a graduate Electrical Engineer, also completed MBA with specialisation in project management. I started my career with Siemens as field service engineer doing maintenance and providing solutions to electrical systems in process Industry. Next, joined Descon Engineering Co. as design engineer. Worked with Klockner Steadler Hurter Co. of Montreal, Canada as secondary design and site implementation engineer in their JV projects. Joined Alfanar Co. of KSA as project engineer and coordinated, monitored and reported the HV substation projects to management and SEC. In 2001, Siemens KSA offered to join as Sales and technical project support for automation and power solutions to process industry. Was a core team member for newly started business segment of Water and Waste Water Systems. Worked in close proximation with KSA government bodies like SWCC, MOW and MOWA. Later, joined Siemens Pakistan as regional manager for their office in lower punjab carrying out activities of business development and project management. In 2010, Siemens KSA again hired me as project manager for Substation Automation Systems. Trained me in Siemens Power Academy in Nurnberg and hands on training in Erlangen, Germany. Also worked as site and project management for FACTS and Static Var Compensation (SVC) projects along with German teams in KSA. Presently, working with National grid UK as regional projects manager for SÉ-region. I am member PMI, USA and a PMP. I am certified NEBOSH practitioner. I am member of IET, UK, Pakistan Engineering council and Saudi Council of Engineers. I provide Engineering, Automation and Management consultancy.
