About Ran Pang
I am a USPTO registered patent agent (registration # 79,332). I expect to apply my semiconductor/electrochemistry/physics research experiences and patent knowledge to practice a patent related job. Right now, I am a Patent Analyst (PCT Patent Examiner) working at Cardinal IP (USPTO contractor). I have conducted 70+ PCT cases and drafted International Search Report (ISR) regarding the patentability of PCT applications, and drafted written opinions and act as International Searching Authority (ISA) on behalf of USPTO.Prior to pursuing my career in patent law, I was a postdoctoral researcher in State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces, where I conducted research on anticorrosive materials in electrochemistry.I earned my Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from Xiamen University. I conducted quantum chemical calculations (coding involved) and utilize in-situ spectroscopic technologies to elucidate reaction mechanisms which are not well understood. I had enriched knowledge and experiences on semiconductor fabrications, energy conversion and optical systems.During my PhD program, I visited California Institute of Technology for two years as a special PhD student & visiting scholar, where I worked with Rudolph A. Marcus, 1992 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry. where I sharpened my skills at solid state & statistical physics and solar energy conversion.Before pursuing my doctoral degree, I earned my bachelor degree in chemistry from Xiamen University, where I got enough training of inorganic & organic chemistry and spectroscopy & chromatography analytical technologies.
