ABOUT RAN BAO

I have been working on automotive engineering consulting specialising in Digital R&D and Virtual Product Engineering. I have played a simulation technical lead role in several R & Ds and commercial xEV and battery projects. My expertise is in vehicle/powertrain modelling and simulation (fuel economy, energy efficiency and performance) with different codes (MATLAB/Simulink and Modelica) and also in battery cell/pack modelling (1-D electrical, thermal, and ageing), simulation, and battery behaviour analysis. Based on the research skills gained from my PhD experience, I publish technical papers, give presentations on conferences, and review journal articles. Apart from a Member of IET and SAE, I am also an Executive Council member of the newly formed UK Chinese Society of Automotive Engineers (UKCSAE) and actively contribute to networking between the UK and China auto industry.
