At the SBTDC, I am working with small and mid-size companies in North Carolina to help develop business plans and commercialization plans, as well as helping these companies to evaluate their technologies, markets, and helping innovative ideas become commercially viable products.In my role as a Technology Commercialization Counselor, I help innovation-based startups strategize and secure non-dilutive funding through opportunities such as the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants. I specifically help clients come up with a strategy to fully take advantage of SBIR/STTR and other non-dilutive funding opportunities, and I often review SBIR/STTR proposals prior to submission. I not only help my clients come up with effective funding strategies, but I also ensure that their SBIR/STTR funding proposals are compelling enough to get key R&D funding to move forward.
