ABOUT RAMON SANTANA
Ramon Santana is a Principal PGD Engineer for Renewables Operations Integration (ROI) at NextEra Energy. Ramon leads the development and execution of the NEER substation transition program, drawing on more than a decade of progressive engineering, operations, and leadership experience across Florida Power & Light and NextEra Energy.Ramon earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and began his journey with Florida Power & Light in the summer of 2015 as a Protection & Control (P&C) Engineering Intern. He started his full-time career in 2016 as a Distribution Service Planning Engineer, and in 2017 transitioned into a Protection & Control Engineer role. Over the next five years, he developed technical expertise in substation protection, control, and system operations, building a strong reputation as a trusted technical resource.In 2022, Ramon broadened his leadership and field experience by moving into a Solar Site Manager role, where he also served as a certified PGD Substation Switching Instructor. In 2024, he joined the ROCC as Renewable Substation Operations Coach, further expanding his experience in renewable integration, substation operations, training, and operational readiness. His breadth of experience across planning, P&C, field operations, coaching, and renewable substation integration makes him exceptionally well prepared for this new role.Beyond his technical and operational accomplishments, Ramon has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to mentorship, talent development, and company representation. During his six years in Power Delivery, he served multiple times as the Northern Regional Ambassador for FPL’s summer intern program, participated as a guest speaker at several Power Delivery Open Houses, and had the distinct honor of introducing former CEO Jim Robo at a company event. His professionalism and engaging presence also led to a featured appearance in an FPL commercial.Ramon has also represented NextEra Energy as the P&C Sponsor, traveling across multiple states to support the onboarding and commissioning of new substations. Outside of work, he is a proud new father and a lifelong automobile enthusiast, qualities that reflect both the dedication and energy he brings to his professional and personal life.
