ABOUT RAMON INGLADA

Welcome and many thanks for your interest in my profile!I started my career as a professional translator in 2002, after studying Translation and Interpreting in Spain, England and Scotland. I worked as an in-house technical translator in Ireland for 3 and a half years, to eventually establish myself as a freelance translator in 2006. I have been working at Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh, Scotland) since 2012, where I currently hold the post of Associate Professor in Spanish and Translation Technologies. My teaching commitments include several undergraduate and postgraduate English into Spanish translation courses, Spanish for Business courses, and the Translation Technologies and Introduction to the Profession courses that are an integral part of my institution\'s Interpreting and Translating MSc programmes. As the current Head of Learning and Teaching in the LINCS (Languages and Intercultural Studies) department, I am a member of the senior leadership team. My main areas of interest are AI literacy, technology applied to translation, software localisation (with a special focus on mobile app localisation), and machine translation.I am a member of the UK\'s Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and also a fully qualified member of the UK\'s Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI). I am also the ITI\'s Scottish network convenor.My main fields of specialization in terms of translation work are: Software/Mobile App Localization, IT (Hardware, Software), Internet Security, Marketing, Automotive Industry, Videogames, Consumer Electronics, Football (Soccer).
