ABOUT MALAPATI

I don\'t see quality engineering as gatekeeping. I see it as a confidence-building exercise that enables teams with clarity, certainty, and pragmatism to move fast.Over the past decade, I\'ve worked in two very different worlds: government transformation and startup product engineering. Both have taught me that quality isn\'t about perfection it\'s about clarity, resilience, and knowing the unknowns. In government, I\'ve led quality engineering for large-scale digital transformations that involves implemenatations at scale, migrations and replacements of decades-old systems that thousands of people depend on daily. Navigating strict regulations while enabling modern practices. Building teams that deliver under intense scrutiny. In startups, I\'m tackling a completely different challenge: how do you build quality into AI-driven products where outputs aren\'t predictable? Traditional testing doesn\'t work when systems learn and evolve. I\'m exploring AI context engineering, prompt quality verification, and what governance looks like for technology that\'s constantly learning. What drives me is the intersection of people, platforms, and processes. The best quality practices are ones teams actually own. Technology should enable speed, not create friction. Processes need to be lightweight and embedded into how teams work, not bolted on at the end.I\'m endlessly curious about emerging practices and obsessed with outcomes that matter value delivered to users, confidence built with stakeholders, capability developed in teams.Right now, I\'m particularly interested in how AI will reshape quality engineering. How do we test AI systems ethically? How do we ensure fairness? How do we govern quality? These questions sit at the intersection of technology, ethics, and quality.Based in Wellington, New Zealand.
