About Ramit Basu
As a Development Professional with more than 22 years of experience, I have worked both - full time as well as an independent consultant with CSOs, INGOs, UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UN-Habitat), Government - National and State, Management Consultancy Groups, Corporate entity etc. chiefly in India and briefly in countries like Bangladesh, Kenya, Myanmar and Sierra Leone. The type of assignments handled by me as a full timer with various organizations range from ICT4D to Monitoring of Govt. Programmes, Capacity Building of Local Elected Representatives, Food and Livelihood Security, Millennium Campaign and Governance Accountability, Rural Decentralization and Devolution, Child Friendly Local Governance, Local Body Planning etc. As an independent consultant I have worked in areas like Panchayati Raj (Rural Local Government in India) reforms, Decentralized District Planning including Village Planning, Evaluation of programmes, Capacity gap assessments and Capacity Building strategies for communities, Government representatives and Civil Society Organizations, business development, strategic focus on human and social development, partnerships and resource mobilization, child rights and DRR planning, organizational profiling etc. Skills acquired: Networking and Communication, Documentation, Policy Analysis, Advocacy, Programme Management, preparing concept notes and editing, working with the Government, community mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, business development etc. I am looking ahead for more challenging oppurtunities wherein there is ample of scope to work at the programme implementation and management and advocacy level.

Part of a core group in a National Level Study (sponsored by MoPR) on the relationship between Elected Reps. at the Panchayat level and MPs and MLAs. Provided critical inputs to the questionnaires, conducted training for field investigators, conducted field study in Rajasthan, drafted the findings as well as conceptualized the section on Dist. Plng. Committee for the final report to MoPR. Participated in discussions with MoPR and incorporated suggestions, provided feedback on inputs alongwith the core research team.
