About Ramez Barsoom

I’m an internal medicine physician with a background in engineering and healthcare consulting. My work sits at the intersection of clinical care and practical innovation, with a particular focus on solving problems that actually show up at the bedside.I started in engineering, moved into healthcare strategy, and eventually found my way to medicine. Along the way, I’ve helped health systems rethink how they use technology, advised early-stage startups, and co-founded a Mayo Clinic–backed venture building affordable tools for pneumonia detection.At Mayo Clinic, I split my time between patient care and driving innovation efforts by leading projects that span clinical validation, product development, and system design. I’m also working on ways to teach innovation differently, helping clinicians move from frustration to functional solutions using tools inspired by the Stanford Biodesign approach.Across every role, I’m motivated by building practical, clinician-informed solutions that make healthcare better from the inside out.
