Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans, career in law for me typifies precisely this. Nothing attracted me more than court-rooms and lawyers’ gown however some serendipitous event turned me to corporate side of law. Before corporates, had prolific practice at Delhi High Court/Supreme court with special focus on criminal side of law, writ and SLP matters. Journey on corporate side has been exciting and diverse which offered me opportunities in dealing with not just Indian law, but law of diverse geographies —USA, EU, Middle East, ANZ, APAC, Latin America, China, Japan etc. —intriguing at times how humans around the globe have regulated their affairs of trade and commerce with uncanny similarities. Corporate journey has taken me through diverse industries—Auto, IT, Power, manufacturing, EPC, telecom etc, exposing me extensively to high stake domestic and cross border deals, litigation/arbitration, M&A, project financing, IPR and technology transfer issues, real estate matters, bankruptcy law, employment law and matters involving regulatory and compliances. It also offered me with opportunities with people side of function dealing with ethics and compliance and POSH as part of mandate of GC role.
