About Rakesh Arya
Ph.D. in Cancer Biology with expertise in natural product-based drug discovery and anti-cancer screening of small molecules under in vitro & in vivo laboratory settings. Currently, as a passionate postdoctoral research associate working on Deciphering the molecular mechanisms underlying lipid metabolism especially the role of intracellular lipid droplet lipolysis deficiency by knocking down Liver-specific CGI58 and ATGL in the pathogenesis of metabolic disorders such as obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Well trained in animal handling with experience of breeding and genotyping via tail or ear punch of genetically engineered mice lines, GTT (glucose Tolerance Test) and ITT (insulin Tolerance Test), necropsy, and collection of different tissues and blood. Isolation and quantification of lipids from the liver and serum of mice and various histochemical staining on tissues. Developing orthotopic syngeneic and xenograft mice models, Kawasaki disease model, and generation double knock-out mice. Also knowledge of working with IVIS Spectrum (an in vivo imaging system) and analyzed both fluorescents as well as bioluminescent reporters in breast cancer metastasis nude mice model.Broad experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques such as western blot, flow cytometry, ELISA, nucleic acid isolation, qPCR, transfection, transduction (Lenti and Adeno vector), immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Chromatin Immunoprecipitation assay (ChIP), and Proximity Ligation Assay (PLA) as well as an expert in Bright field, Fluorescent, and Confocal Microscopy.Capable of generating and analyzing high-quality scientific data and able to build relationships and collaborations with external partners as evidenced in 16 published research articles, 3 patents, and attended more than 5 scientific conferences.
