About Rakesh Goyal
Mr. Goyal is a senior power sector specialist with over 30 years of experience in power sector. He began his career with the Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Board, the largest vertically-integrated electric company in India, where he served in positions of increasing responsibility in generation, transmission and distribution. He then served as a director at the Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission, where he framed regulations for power sector restructuring and for tariff methodologies. He then joined Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited where he was responsible for the management of the meter-to-cash cycle and ICT interventions of more than 1 million consumers. Mr. Goyal also served for two years with Siemens India as general manager. Now, he is Managing Director and India country head of Tetra Tech from last seven years. He has completed several projects sponsored by USAID, ADB, World Bank etc in the area of distribution reform, energy efficiency, clean energy and smart grid. He has worked in the area of Energy Efficiency and Smart grid with Bangladesh, Jordan, Dubai, BESCOM and CESC. Mr. Goyal is country head of Tetra Tech India operations. He supervises the projects related with energy and provides management support to all projects of Tetra Tech that are executed in India and surrounding countries. Mr. Goyal has done bachelor and master of engineering from IIT Roorkee, India and MBA in Finance from IGONU, India. He is a frequent speaker at national and international forums and his views are published in leading dailies and magazines. He has authored two books in the power sector.
